Parking canopies
Structures over existing lots at commercial, institutional and municipal sites, where generation sits directly above the load.
Brightacre Energy is being organised to develop and own solar generating assets — canopies over parking, roofs and ground-mounted arrays on land that has already been disturbed — and to hold them for the long term rather than build and flip them.
Ground-mounted solar competes with whatever else the land could be doing, and that competition is where most projects die — on siting, on local opposition, or on the simple arithmetic of land cost.
A parking lot has already lost that argument. The surface is built, the interconnection is usually close, the load is often on the same parcel, and the structure earns a second income from shade and weather protection that the site owner can feel without reading a meter.

Systems on large-footprint roofs with sufficient structural capacity and a remaining roof life that matches the asset.
Arrays on previously developed, marginal or otherwise constrained parcels rather than on productive ground.
Brightacre Energy is in formation. It owns no assets, holds no agreements or permits, and is not offering services.
